The idea of Israel being thrown under the bus is not a new concept. The US, the Europeans and pretty much the entire world, as we all know very well, have never truly sided with Israel on any issue.
Never the less, the blame for the current US policy shift towards Israel falls squarely on the shoulders of the weak Israeli government, and yes the weak mind set of the Israeli public.
The fact that a traitor can continue to exist as Prime Minister is a concept that I cannot put into words, yet I will say that Olmert is a dismal failure as a leader, human being, a Jew and lastly an Israeli. To put it bluntly he is completely inept, and morally corrupt. But I cannot stop here, because there is more blame to go around. The Israeli public is equally guilty of failure as they follow blindly as sheep to the slaughter behind this maniac, and accept his rule as though he were Kind David himself.
Israel had its opportunity to shine and show the world, most importantly the US, that indeed Israel can stand up for itself and even be effective. Last summers failed "war" is a clear sign of the Israeli weakness and its lack of desire to fight the enemy that calls for her destruction.
Again Israel shows its weakness as a murderer of children is handed over into the celebratory arms of a gloating Hezbollah. At what point did they transform from an internationally recognized terrorist organization to a partner with whom Israel will negotiate? A time when Israel should be carrying the hammer, and smashing the terrorists in her mist, Israel is holding out a trembling hand begging for mercy.
Israel receives two dead, illegally kidnapped soldiers, who were held in brutal captivity for over two years. There were no demands from the Israeli government to immediately hand over those kidnapped, or else. Oh, but the failed statements of a failed war, led by a failed leader.
Two are now dead and one still in prison.
It is time that Israel learns from Colombia. Terrorists who hold hostages are not to be bargained with. The hostages are to be freed by military savvy.
I presume that Israel's failures can also be translated into a lack of willingness to defend her; or, maybe this lack of will is a result of her decision to finally concede to the world that they are right and she is wrong.
Maybe Israel is wrong and the Palestinians are right in their demand of a state "from the river to the sea”.. Maybe Hezbollah is just in calling for Israel's destruction because of Israel's now failure to leave “their” land in the Sheeba Farms. And, maybe Syria is correct in demanding that Israel give up the Golan.
Well this seems to be a predominant reality and very well could be the mind set of the Israeli leadership. But, how about the Israeli public, what is their frame of mind? Then of course we must consider the American Jewish conception of Israel.
Your damn right....all three groups are belabored with guilt because Israel was once strong and was able to vanquish her enemies, but now is their time to show the leftist, peacenik, immoral reality of theirs.
What a real travesty!
Where did the strength of King David go? Where is the real Israel?
I am talking about the Israel that sent a small group of men to travel the world in order to eliminate a group of blood thirsty terrorists who had murdered Israeli athletes in cold blood at the Olympic Games in Munich.
The Israel, that against all odds defeated Arab armies in 1948, 1967 and yet again in 1973.
The Israel, that flew into Iraq to destroy a nuclear reactor.
The Israel, whose secret mission under the cover of darkness rescued Israeli hostages from a hijacked plane being held captive all the way in Uganda.
And yes the same Israel that flew huge Hercules transport planes secretly into Ethiopia to liberate the Ethiopian Jews and reunite them with their Jewish family back in Israel.
We all need to go back and study the words of Jabotinsky, when he begged Jews in Europe to flee and go to Israel before it was too late. Of course we know what came next at the hands of the Nazis.
It is time for all of us to wake up and see reality for what it is.
We cannot cast blame on US policy, when the leaders in Israel are the true architects of this failed policy.
So, it is up to us as Jews and Christians to take a stand and say NO MORE! No more to the failed policies towards Israel, no more corrupt leaders in Israel, and no more bargaining with terrorists or terrorist states.
