Transgendered Lobby Vows to Block Christians at Polls
By Christian Civic League of Maine

League's Heath to EqualityMaine: Apologize For This Intimidation Campaign

Maine's leading homosexual and cross-dressing lobby publicly declared this week to "build a presence at hundreds of polling places" this June 10th in an effort to prevent Christians, social conservatives, evangelicals, and traditional marriage supporters from signing the YES for Marriage and Equality pro-family referendum petitions.

In a May 14th article from the homosexual New England Blade publication, EqualityMaine's Executive Director Betsy Smith "outlined...a plan that asks volunteers to stand with the people the [Christian Civic] League recruits to collect signatures for the petition."

Smith went on to state the EqualityMaine petition blockers "will offer a pledge for [homosexual and transgendered] equality, so that people who are opposed to [the pro-family referendum] can take action that [Primary Election] day."

In response to the homosexual and transgendered lobby's comments, Christian Civic League of Maine Executive Director Michael Heath said, ""I think it is disgusting that so-called 'gay' groups plan on harassing dear Christian grandmothers who simply want to gather signatures on Primary Election Day.  Shame on EqualityMaine."

"They need to call off this totalitarian campaign of intimidation and apologize," said Heath, "Yesterday wouldn't be soon enough."

The Blade article concluded with the news that Maine Governor John Baldacci has officially sided against the YES for Marriage and Equality effort.  According the article: "Baldacci's office told the [
New England] Blade that the governor would 'work diligently' for the [pro-family] effort's defeat."

The EqualityMaine homosexual and transgendered lobbying group also reaffirmed their long-standing desire for homosexual marriage.  In a separate press release this week, Smith stated: "While same-sex couples in
Maine are unaffected legally by this [California Supreme Court marriage] ruling, we [homosexuals and the transgendered] are hopeful that here in Maine
, we will someday have the same opportunity to [marry]."

Matt Dubois, President of EqualityMaine, echoed Smith's comments: "Same-sex couples in
Maine want and deserve the protections, dignity, and respect that come with [homosexual] marriage."
