JOHN EDWARDS, INFIDELITY AND ABORTION

It appears as if John Edwards is genuinely sorry for his infidelity. He states to media that he feels laid “bare.” He says his egocentric life was narcissistically based.
With his Methodist background, Edwards surely knows the biblical opportunity provided him at this juncture. God has promised to forgive the truly repentant soul who confesses his sins to Savior Christ. God has promised that healing can take place over time when Christ becomes Lord of life.
With divine mercy offered by a benevolent God, let us pray that Edwards bows before that kind Redeemer in order to discover a personal tie to Christ as Master over the remainder of his days.
However, if Edwards has taken upon himself the theologically liberal segment of United Methodism, he may be under the religious leadership of those who no longer hold to Scripture as divine revelation.
If that is so, then he has not been preached the redemptive work of Christ for those who contritely pour out their transgressions before His grace.
If Edwards and family are wrapped up in the apostate part of present-day United Methodism, then he no doubt has no spiritual counsel available to him that is grounded upon the Bible..
It appears that Edwards is a part of the liberal breakaway of traditional Methodism; that is no doubt why he proudly has proclaimed his support for murdering womb babies. His wife, Elizabeth, has publicly made the same position known.
When I heard that they were Methodists as well as their bold stance on abortion, I was saddened. I concluded that they were another twosome who had been swept into the theologically liberal apostasy and thus endorsers of evil with their local congregation’s blessing.
Now both John and Elizabeth are enduring the aftermath of his confession of having had an affair. Elizabeth has said to media that it is “tough, really tough.” One of sensitive soul can surely empathize with her plight.
Now I pray that both of them will find Christ as personal Lord through this ordeal. It is a trial that could press them close to the forgiving Savior, thereby washing away their sins and renewing their souls for the future.
But if that takes place, they will have to repent of their murdering womb babies by endorsing aggressively abortuaries. They cannot find the Christ of grace for their present tribulation if they don’t also find the Christ of grace who abhors abortion.
Consequently, I pray that the two will scour the Scriptures to learn the God ethic of all of life.
In that they will hopefully come upon newness of life after the affair confession as well as the shedding of being pro-abortion.
That means they will let the world know that they no longer are in favor of murdering womb infants, that they regret ever having taken such a stand, and then spend the rest of their lives defending the defenseless ones.
There is much opportunity for good in this dark period of their lives. The answers to all life’s hurtful questions is Christ Jesus, God incarnate. Apart from Christ, the twosome will simply continue to flail and ache under their ongoing heavy weight.
