Gabriel Garnica Anyone with two brain cells to rub together can see that liberals’ latest self-portrait is that of a fervently faithful lot living the Bible at every turn. In typical fashion, however, liberals are living and spinning those pages of Scripture to suit their superficial and selective purposes, with absurd results.
Chameleons, Liars and Snakes, Oh My!
Over a decade ago we heard how liberals had grown tired of being whipped at every turn and, realizing that the main reason for their failures was their inability to capture the so-called values vote, decided to hire Madison Avenue types to refashion their image from Godless to God-like.
If one is to sell oneself as something one is definitely not, of course, it becomes imperative to twist and distort reality to suit one’s purposes. Long fashioning themselves as champions of the people, defenders of the poor, feeders of the hungry and doctors of the ill, liberals set out to push that whole “downtrodden” theme a bit further and paint themselves as models of so-called “social justice”, which is presently defined as feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, healing the sick, helping the poor and educating the illiterate while paying no heed to the unborn, the traditional family, parental rights, sexual morality or other annoying tidbits.
Liberals will tell you, with a straight face, that Christ came to heal the sick, help the needy and work for the oppressed but would have been “ok” with abortion and sexual promiscuity. They love to tell you that Jesus prevented the mob from judging, vigilante-style, the harlot they cornered with a stern suggestion that “he who has not sinned cast the first stone”. In typically convenient style, however, these liberals will suddenly forget to recall that, right after saving the woman from vigilante justice, Christ told her to “sin no more”. There are many reasons why liberals will neglect to mention this part, not the least of which is the fact that most if not all of them view sin as some out-dated, ancient and extremely foolish and judgmental superstition.
New Age Rubbish Sold In Liberal Bottles
New Agers like Oprah and her stable of occult authors will tell us that they have found the secrets of success, happiness, inner fulfillment and every other dream and hope. While each recipe has its particular ingredients, the usual tale is that we have all we need to be happy, successful, fulfilled, kind, generous and actualized within ourselves. All we have to do is wish, dream, verbalize or trigger this inner god and the world will be our oyster.
Another yarn, often sold in conjunction with the above one, is that traditional religions like Catholicism and Christianity in general are steeped in narrow-minded, stagnant, out-moded and even dangerous beliefs. Some of Oprah’s buddies, like Eckhart Tolle, have even stated that such traditional beliefs are a form of mental illness and abuse. Simply put, liberals, led by such people as Oprah Winfrey, think that they have found the fountain of faith that centuries of traditional religion could not grasp.
Like Bulls in a China Store
Liberals are never as pathetically amusing as when they pick up their staff, pretend to be Moses about to part The Red Sea, and utter “Let My People Go!” The same people who pretend that ripping an unborn child to pieces is a private matter which society should not interfere with propose to tell us about right and wrong. The very same lot who wink at sexual musical chairs now wish to inform us about virtue and vice.
Every liberal from Nancy Pelosi to Hillary Clinton to Barack Obama and every other one in between spew Scripture and quote the Bible and refer to Biblical stories like nobody’s business, as if saying one is fully following the Word of God makes it so. What makes all of this so hilarious, of course, is the fact that these same people tip toe through the Bible like bulls in a china store, careful to avoid the many parts that speak to their twisted and delusional version of right and wrong.
Try as they might, once in a while they will tip over some china, and pretend there is no sound. Pathetic as it might seem, they are enabled by a society that is either so full of apathy or so inflicted with stupidity as to believe a morsel of what these liberals sell. If truth be told, that society is probably pretending to be blind so as to continue spinning morality to its own tune.
First Remove The Plank From Your Eyes
Christ did speak against those who judge others, but His words speak all too loudly to liberals, who already love to paint Jesus as some grinning hippie out of Woodstock giving a high-five to anyone who comes along and winking at every immorality with an adolescent moral code.
Helping the poor, feeding the hungry, treating the sick, educating the illiterate, and serving the needy are fine and noble pursuits, but they are subordinate to preserving and protecting life, and that is where liberals look like moral imbeciles of the highest order.
You see, abortion is the genocide of genocides, the murder of murders, and the crime of crimes. It is of such a transcendent moral magnitude that it reduces anyone who dares to defend, promote, rationalize or justify it to the size of a moral dwarf, a shameless hypocrite and a misguided moral drone.
Only liberals like Al Gore could defend a tree more than an unborn child. Only liberals like Barack Obama could quote psalms which speak of teaching our young the way to go while voting not to save a child who survives an abortion, leaving him or her to die instead. Only liberals like Hillary Clinton could speak of educating our young while defending the murder of the unborn young.
With their relentless support of abortion, liberals and any like-minded conservatives lose their moral integrity to speak on nearly any other moral subject. How can one speak of injustice, of inhumanity, of disrespect, of violence, of bias, of hatred or of marginalization while condoning the intentional, premeditated murder of an unborn child? How can one speak of honesty, of facts, of truth, of science, of progress or of sincerity while ignoring the fact that the unborn is a person deserving of respect and life? How can one speak of corruption, of greed or of materialism while ignoring the fact that abortion providers like Planned Parenthood rake in millions in blood money each year?
It is a wonder that anyone, liberal or conservative, who supports or defends abortion can see their way home with such a large plank in his or her eye. It is also a wonder how anyone with such a plank can dare to tell anyone else what is moral and what is not.
Conclusion
Liberals have decided that they will not taste political success unless they practice a continuing social and spiritual charade of sorts. They must continue pretending to give a hoot about faith, to practice virtues on all levels and to be paragons and leaders of moral direction if they are to be successful in the political arena.
They name this form of faith “social justice”, and they fashion New Age tripe and rationalized, subjective morality into their own belief system. Somehow, they have managed to sell this fraud to an American voting public that is increasingly naďve, frighteningly gullible and tragically passive.
The other night I heard Hillary Clinton speak of the economic woes of average Americans and the elitist isolation of the rich and wealthy. This coming from a woman who is a millionaire. That is how liberals speak of faith. They render their twisted, selective version of it despite contradicting its most basic respect for life, and pretend the whole thing does not sound absurd.
At the end of the day, a liberal speaking of faith is no different than Yul Brynner speaking of hair care, Bill Clinton speaking of marital fidelity or Hillary Clinton speaking of honesty.
