What a ride these last few weeks have been.

One honorable president was buried and quickly forgotten.  Many powerful liberals were far to busy to pay their last respects to a Republican president—especially the one that pardoned Richard Nixon.

One president, who butchered, tortured, and brutalized his people, was hung.  But because a few stupid people heckled him at the time of his long-overdue demise, he is being converted from a butcher to a martyr in the Arab world.  Some Arab leaders are saying that because Saddam faced his death with courage, all his past sins are forgiven.  He is now a hero.  Forget the million or more people he slaughtered, gassed, bombed, and tortured.  Forget that he caused two wars with his neighbors and threatened others, he is now, officially, a Muslim hero because he laughed at some fools just before the executioner removed the floor from under his feet.  This is the Arab mentality.  This is why people from the West do not understand Arabs or Muslims.  It is never about how a person lived, but how he dies.

Back on the home front, the first woman Speaker of the House was sworn in.  Nancy Pelosi, (D-Calif.) wearing an expensive designer suit and probably even more expensive pearls, clutched the gavel and pronounced herself the “most powerful woman in America!”  Did she clear that statement with Hillary Clinton?

Speaker Pelosi threw a grand coronation for herself.  It was fit for a queen.  All her rich friends were there.  Streets were re-named in her honor.  Gala parties were attended by the famous only—near-famous wasn’t good enough for Ms. Pelosi.  Was there all this fuss when Newt Gingrich was handed the gavel?  Did Newt surround himself with kids proclaiming that everything the Republicans in the House of Representatives did would be done “for the children?”

After the Republican Party won the House and Senate in 1994, many Democrats were quite vocal about how their “power” was stolen from them.  One interesting fact is that the electronic voting machines, made by the same company, always work perfectly if a Democrat has won the election, but were obviously rigged when a Republican wins.  Amazing, isn’t it?

Some Democrats are now proclaiming that they “rule the Congress.”  Didn’t America fight a War of Independence with England so that we were not under anyone’s “rule?”

On the House floor, Republicans complained about being excluded from any considerations on upcoming votes.  Giddy Democrats chided them that the Democrats wouldn’t “put their boots on Republican necks as had been done to them for twelve years.”  Apparently, the woman speaking had forgotten about the forty years of Democratic “rule” when Republicans often were not allowed to even attend committee meetings.

It seems as though some in the Democratic Party had held power so long they had come to believe the House and the Senate was their personal property.

Perhaps one of the most appalling events was the standing ovation by Democrats given to William Jefferson, (D-La.) who is under investigation for a number of crimes.  This ovation was given by the party members who promise to make this Congress the “most ethical Congress in American history.”  When the investigation reaches its conclusion, there is an expectation that Congressman Jefferson will be charged with numerous offenses.  Having nearly $100,000 of marked bills hidden in one’s freezer is very hard to explain.

John Conyers, (D-Mich.) was just reprimanded by the ethics committee for using his staff for campaign tasks.  Democrats are off to an illustrious start.

Democratic lobbyists who left town when the Republicans took control in 1994 are flocking back into Washington, D.C. in anticipation of the good days to come.  Perhaps Senate Majority Leader Reid will allow his lobbyist children to stay in his guest rooms.

Falling into the “priceless” category is the shocked look on Illinois Democratic Representative Rahm Emanuel’s face when his press conference was shouted down by the liberal media’s crown princess, Cindy Sheehan.  Forced to flee the stage, Emanuel seemed stunned that he was heckled by a liberal icon.  This kind of thing just doesn’t happen to liberals.  Perhaps Rahm should contact Ann Coulter for lessons on how to deal with unruly people.  Ms. Coulter is routinely heckled by liberals and has been the target of cream pies on more than one occasion.  Some conservative speakers will not venture onto an American university campus anymore without a body guard.

The matter of Muslims in America who wish to ignore American law in favor of Islamic law might end up before the Supreme Court or be debated in Congress.

Over in Wisconsin the “America-Shuns-Sharia-Law” award this month goes to the Milwaukee airport.  Muslim cab drivers, who have a contract with the airport to transport the facilities passengers to their destinations, decided that the contract wasn’t worth the paper it was written on.  Muslims claim that Islamic law states that they cannot allow alcohol in their cabs, even in sealed bottles.  Nor can Muslims allow dogs in their cabs because dogs and their saliva are considered dirty.  Islam also considers women in their menses to be “dirty.”  Will women be asked if they are in this condition before being allowed in cabs driven by Muslims?  Perhaps young women should discretely fill out a checklist before climbing into a Muslim cab to see if they will be allowed entry. This is called the proverbial “toe in the door” for Muslims in America.  The Council on American/Islamic Relations will claim Islamaphobia.  Most would say that it is a simple case of Islamics wanting rights over and above everyone else and the right to ignore American laws.  The cab company has a contract with the airport.  Honor it, or loose it.  This is America, not Saudi Arabia.

The next two years will be interesting.  Will the liberals get their wish and hand Iraq over to Iran?   How many millions of American tax dollars will be spent on endless investigations?  How high will the Democrats raise our taxes?  Will Hillary be forced to dish out the dirt on Obama to knock him out of the presidential race?  Will Bill Clinton embarrass Hillary again with another bimbo scandal?  Will Nancy Pelosi and Jane Harman be able to be in the same room together without coming to blows?  Will Rep. Silvestre Reyes, (D-Texas) new head of the House Intelligence Committee ever learn the difference between a Shia and a Sunni Muslim?  Will there be any Democratic senators that will not throw their hats into the presidential race?

So many questions:  So little time.
