The Unfair Fairness Doctrine
MichNews.com-- Now that the Left controls our government, thanks to the Nov 4, 2008 election, there may well be a stronger effort made to stop the opposition from Talk Radio, a plan to drive Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, Laura Ingraham, Glenn Beck and other conservatives off the air by reviving the Fairness Doctrine. Thus, I think that once again we need to look at the reasoning behind the original doctrine and why it was needed then, but is unnecessary now.

The Truth about Governor Sarah Palin
MichNews.com-- There have been many diverse ponderings by various pundits and politicians on TV, the internet and the press about Governor Palin's experience to effectively serve as the Vice-President, and potentially serve as the President of the U.S.? Does being Governor of a state and its diverse responsibilities prepare her to manage America's national security and relate America's security interests to matters of foreign affairs? To get at the facts, I went to an authority on her state and national defense responsibilities, Lt. Gen. Herb Temple, U.S. Army (Ret), former Chief of the National Guard Bureau, Pentagon, Washington, DC.

Open Letter to Voters of America
MichNews.com-- Dear Voters, ... I don’t care whether you are a Republican, Democrat or Independent; all I know is that you are an American in heart and mind, even though, you may be like me, born of mixed heritage from immigrant families who escaped foreign shores to build lives here in this new land. You are still a product of this great melting pot of Americanism. Yes, my skin is olive and I am now an old geezer left over from WWII, where I served in the South Pacific, but sometimes age combined with many life experiences wakes us up, having given us some knowledge of history and civics. With that possibility in mind, let’s look at what is facing us in the future.

Tony Snow - a Tribute from the Past
MichNews.com-- The loss of Tony Snow is a great sadness for his loving family and friends as well as a loss for all of America, indeed it is an American tragedy! While you and many others may have looked at Tony as only a masterful pundit and TV-radio show personality, many Americans, including me, saw him in a much more enduring and needed role.

An Open Letter to Senator John McCain
MichNews.com-- Dear Senator McCain: ... As a supporter, a life-long Republican, and also a service-connected disabled American veteran (WWII), I am planning now how I should vote in November. Obviously I desire, as do my friends, to vote for a conservative Republican.

Mystery of the Missing Communist Party
MichNews.com-- I am an old mystery fan. As a boy, I devoured all the old Erle Stanley Gardner and Agatha Christie mysteries and now read the newer Mary Higgins Clark novels. I guess this is the reason I still get suspicious of sudden changes in society and feel the need to investigate.

Is Marriage Discriminatory or Does it serve a Higher Purpose?
MichNews.com-- The California Supreme Court has legislated against Proposition 22 which declared, "Only a marriage between a man and a woman is valid and recognized in California." This had passed by an amazing 61% of the vote! Yet the Court declared it not constitutional only because, in the opinion of four judges, it was "discriminatory." This ruling had nothing to do with the Constitution or historic reasons!

The Fifth Anniversary -- What it means to America
MichNews.com-- As the Fifth anniversary of what the media call "The Iraq War" arrived, we saw protest marches across the nation against the war. The protestors and anti-war people showed fake coffins draped with American flags. These protest marches were organized and financed by left-wing followers of organizations such as Move0n.org, which is, itself, financed according to the Washington Post, by wealthy liberals. They include financier George Soros who gave $1.46 million to MoveOn.org Voter Fund (in the form of matching funds to recruit additional small donors); Peter B. Lewis, chief executive of the Progressive Corp., who gave $500,000 to MoveOn.org Voter Fund; and Linda Pritzker, of the Hyatt hotel family, and her Sustainable World Corp., who gave $4 million to the joint fundraising committee." The Iraq Peace Fund is also an effort of the Tides Foundation.

Mitt Romney's Sacrifice is Our Call to Battle
MichNews.com-- Romney’s recent withdrawal from the race increases chances for McCain to be the Republican Nominee. Romney rightly feared that if he had stayed in the race, he would make it easier for a Democrat to win, and, as he said: “. . . in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror.” As Romney put it ...

Political Change and Correctness Can Destroy America
MichNews.com-- The current political mantra seems to be the cry for “Change.” But what does this mean? Change to what? We voters need to be sure we know what is being promised before we step through the looking glass as Alice did.
