Hillary: Hoist with Her Own Petard
By A.J. DiCintio

You won’t get it from too clever by half talking heads and “experts,” but the only sensible speculation about Hillary Clinton’s presidential chances argues that the bombs Mrs. Clinton has employed in her campaign will blow up in her face.

In support of that prediction, consider that presidential nominating conventions have always been about delegates, in the current age, democratically elected delegates — no matter the Clinton stink bomb that insists ordinary citizens should permit their votes to be overridden by a herd of presumptuous aristocratic asses.

(Adhering to the American tradition that loves democracy and straight talk, we should always reject the euphemism “super delegate” in favor of the term used above or one like it — unless we are explaining this Democratic Party abomination to grade school children, at which time we may properly say “political delegate” as suggested by Newt Gingrich.)

Now, regarding the real delegates, even a boiling, jealous anger hasn’t prevented Hillary Clinton from doing the math and realizing she has virtually zero chance of winning them.

(For example, she can super-generously allow she’ll tie Barack Obama in Mississippi, North Carolina, Oregon, and Montana while awarding herself super-duper 60% victories in Pennsylvania, Indiana, West Virginia, Kentucky, Guam, Puerto Rico, Michigan and Florida — only to discover she still loses by 24 genuine, legitimate delegates.)

Yes, we can be certain Hillary has done the math.

What else explains her daily volleys of stink bombs that constitute an insult to any “kitchen sink.”

…Demeaning states she has lost. (“I know Massachusetts. Massachusetts is a friend of mine. And you, minor, backward Mississippi, Illinois, Missouri, Connecticut, Nebraska, Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming …, you’re no Massachusetts!”)

…Lying that as one of her “many” foreign policy experiences, she played a key role in the Northern Ireland peace process.

…Demanding she be awarded delegates from Michigan and Florida on the basis of primaries she had agreed wouldn’t count and in which no Democrat campaigned.

…Sliming a fellow Democrat who has accumulated a million more votes than she as a milquetoast-for-dinner pipsqueak. (“I know John McCain. John McCain is a friend of mine. And when it comes to being Commander-in-Chief, unlike little Barack, I am John McCain’s equal!”)

…Repeating ad nauseam she would love to choose Unqualified Pipsqueak to fill the role of Mr. One Heartbeat Away From Being President.

(How unforgivably arrogant, presumptuous, and contradictory is Hillary as she denies that if Barack Obama were to accept such an invitation, he would utterly destroy not just his credibility but his soul — even as he fails to stem the flight of voters repulsed by his agreeing to play Hillary’s bought man, obediently willing to alternate among the roles of Conduit to Blacks, Channel to White Liberals, and Ever at the Ready Hatchet Man who awaits orders from his seat in the back of the Clinton bus.)

However self-destructive it is, the preceding ugliness doesn’t reflect the entirety of Hillary’s dire situation.

Why? Because the man Hillary Clinton is stink bombing, the man former Senator Bill Bradley told the Sunday Times is the victim of a campaign that believes “The bigger the lie, the better the chance [the Clintons] think they’ve got,” is a black American, a member of a group that has consistently given 90% of its vote to Democratic presidential candidates.

Those black voters are already plenty angry about “what Bill Clinton did” in South Carolina (as Peggy Noonan put it so well). How strongly will they react when the Clintons tell them they have to play Web Hubbell and “roll over one more time” so that a gang of party insiders can give Hillary what she’s “entitled” to?

And how will white Liberals and Obamayouth react when the Clintons bark the same command to them?

Douglas Wilder, the Moderate former governor of Virginia answered that question when he warned of “chaos” at the Democratic convention, adding, “If you think ‘68 was bad . . .”

Of course, Wilder is entirely correct, but he should have also pointed out that a Hillary-lit ’68 bomb will prompt significant numbers of the three aforementioned groups to retaliate in November either by voting for John McCain or staying home.

According to the Sunday Times, there is one last stink bomb Team Clinton may be assembling in a foul basement corner: “Some cynics believe that she [Hillary] is willing to undermine Obama sufficiently for him to lose to McCain in November, freeing her to take another shot at the presidency in 2012.”

Regardless of how Democrats react to that treacherous strategy, it, too, will fail because Republicans and Conservatives (who agree with Ben Franklin that “He who lives upon hope will die fasting”) have long prepared to engage Hillary Clinton in battle whenever she runs for the presidency and have stocked an arsenal to its ceiling with “inconvenient”  truths about her.

Moreover, unlike her Democratic opponents, they stand ready to unleash their ordnance relentlessly from “day one,” adding stupendous blasts to the candidate’s own ironically exploding petards and thereby hoisting Hillary out of her “entitlement” once and for all.
