Mitt Romney's Sacrifice is Our Call to Battle
By Lee Ellis

Feb 12, 2008

Romney’s recent withdrawal from the race increases chances for McCain to be the Republican Nominee.  Romney rightly feared that if he had stayed in the race, he would make it easier for a Democrat to win, and, as he said: “. . . in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror.” As Romney put it, Democrat candidates would: “declare defeat in Iraq” and retreat. “It would mean attacks on America, launched from safe havens “  This would make Afghanistan under the Taliban look like child’s play.” “This is not an easy decision for me,” said Romney, “I hate to lose.” He stood aside for the party and our country and we must all now get behind McCain with a new vengeance.

So after Romney, what do Conservatives and fellow Republicans do?

Our newspapers, this week, are headlining an important Associated Press  economic poll  which  proves an escalation of this false Democrat concept  by showing that many voters (65% Democrats versus only 18% Republicans)  now think that the Iraq war is choking the economy and that leaving Iraq will stop any recession.   Overlooked is that one more 9/11 can completely destroy America’s economy within seconds if we lose our presence in the heart of the Middle East!

To the few Republicans who have said “I can never vote for McCain,”  please remember that whether it was border security, amnesty, or anything else for which you blame McCain (or any Republican nominee) , a no vote from you will insure that you will get much worse from either Hillary or Obama!.

In addition, you will risk new suicide attacks by sleeper cells already here in the USA  as al Qaeda becomes emboldened by our retreat from Iraq.  We will then see Innocent  lives lost combined with a lost economy!   Is this really worth your not voting for the Republican nominee?

We do not have a Republican Party that is the same as our former Reagan G OP any more than we have the old Democrat party of JFK, Harry Truman, Scoop Jackson, et al. Joe Lieberman is the last Democrat still standing and even he is now an Independent.

Over the past decades, we have seen the Socialists infiltrate our universities, political parties and even some churches. When Ronald Reagan was asked why he left the Democrat Party, he replied that he had not; it had left him as it moved to the far left! Since then, both parties have moved even more to the left with the heavy immigration of liberals from Central and South America, Mexico, the Middle East and the new Socialist Europe.

The cry to the Republicans from the Leftist media was that we had to open our tent and be more inclusive. Well, we then started to include liberals and Democrats who had switched to independent or “undeclared” status. Conservative Republicans have been outnumbered by liberals or RINOs, as a result.  Rush Limbaugh said that only 75% of voters in the Republican Primaries were genuine Republicans!  There is a difference between being inclusive and being infiltrated!

It is indeed a shame when more Iraqis, four years ago, walked miles on dirt streets with the possibility of being shot in order to vote and we here cannot take an air-conditioned car to a neighborhood voting place to vote Republican! That has to change. Four years ago, 80% of the Iraqis voted, and in California, the same geographical size, only 40% voted!

Add to this mix the many graduates from the leftist universities with tenured professors.  These former young Republican students, over a four-year period of indoctrination, were converted to flaming liberals! Many Republican parents have told me they don't understand what happened to their kids after they paid big bucks to get their children a "good" education.

The Democrats   (remember the newspaper endorsements) wanted McCain to win the endorsement of the Republican Party because they  thought a majority of the new voters who are under the age of 50 would choose a young, “idealistic” liberal over a 71 year-old Republican.

The current statistics show that in the Democrat Party, the young flocked to Obama during the primaries while seniors voted for Hillary. We forget that many of today's youth have no knowledge of civics or history. No wonder they are swayed by the rock-star attraction of Obama!  To me, his youthful cheering, arm-waving audience is mesmerized by his pulse-stirring oratory of words, sans definitions, making this crowd reminiscent of the hypnotized arm-waving young crowds in the Germany of the late 30s. The important factor to remember is that these new voters now outnumber the older generation and Obama can spur them to vote in November!

We must prove now that the Democrats and “Drive-by” media were wrong in their reasoning for their endorsement of  our nominee.   Presuming that Huckabee will not get many more delegates, Republicans must unite behind McCain if he is our nominee so that America can be a winner in November.

We have to take back our city and state school boards, governments,  our universities, and stop giving in to political correctness. We have to learn our own Republican heritage and teach it to others. So few people today understand that Abraham Lincoln  and even Martin Luther King were Republicans. Already there is mounting Leftist propaganda to stop the Electoral College. If this happens, this would cause all future presidents to be elected by the major urban centers in metropolitan cities such as New York, New Jersey, Detroit, Chicago, L.A. and San Francisco. America would cease to be a Republic and become a European type of democracy instead.

Some good signs: Black Republican groups are starting to grow and escape the Democrat  Plantations. We need to encourage them.  There are also thousands of successful Hispanics who are Republicans. They  have combined their talents and energy with the benefits of our capitalist system and enjoyed the results. Their family values are also identical and they can help newcomers to our land realize the advantages of the Republican Party for their futures, too.

Governor Romney lamented in his farewell speech on relinquishing his candidacy, “the attack on America’s culture,” and castigated liberals for fostering welfare dependency. We must rebuild the theory that one’s talents and hard work determine his or her progress, not the government.

Too many think a government is extremely rich and so therefore has the money to support us. That may be true of a dictatorship and its many palaces for the Dictator, but not the USA. Our  government has no money ---zilch! All that our government can do is to take money from businesses ---small to corporate--- and from our personal wallets and then redistribute it! The more the government spends, the higher the taxation on all, and thus, fewer jobs become available causing our economy to falter. Smaller government and lower taxes mean more jobs and more money for all working or retired folks.

Too many people forget that most rich people got that way by creating companies that became successful and so were able to expand job and career opportunities for thousands of other people!  It takes a lot of money to create or expand any successful business. So, the next time you get a paycheck, please look at the signature --- it is not that of a poor person!

When Democrats talk about taxing the rich, they are really keeping you and me from some of our income regardless of whether it is from a raise, a promotion, a new job or retirement pensions or dividends.  This is something to remember when you vote for a political party or candidate.  What is its philosophy of taxation as well as defense, security and family life?

Let’s march forward to win in November and to reclaim the legacy of the Republican Party and this great nation (a Republic) founded by our forefathers.
