ROME WELCOMES THE DEVIL

The seat of Roman Catholicism is now regarded as the chief office for the devil. “’Rome has been called the most satanized city in Italy’” per George Thomas of CBN News.

Instead of worshiping Christ as Savior God, people are talking to the devil, acting out his wishes and teaching others how to communicate with the dark powers. Magicians in particular have become quite popular, that is, not the traditional stage performers but those equipped to connect with demons.

Roman Catholic priests are attending exorcism classes in an attempt to cleanse souls of satanic powers.

“’Satanism and the occult are in fashion,’ declares Father Pedro Barrajón, a Catholic priest who serves in Rome. There are an estimated 800 satanic cults operating in the country, with more than 600,000 followers.

“And according to Silvano Lilli, an evangelical pastor in Rome, their numbers are growing.

“’The devil's diabolical influence is growing in so many areas of our society,’ says Lilli. ’He needs to be driven out.’”

Evangelicals teach that the Holy Spirit can directly attack demons indwelling the soul. Evangelicals point to the power of Christ, even to the might of His name. Evangelicals, depending solely on the Bible as the Word of God, approach demonic activity in Christ’s name as well as quoting Scripture that levels demonic moves.

Interestingly, evangelicals and Catholic clergy, both concerned about the increase of Satanism, are voicing their opinions in public as one concerted warning to the public.

Evangelicals also proclaim that these are the End Times in which the spirit of AntiChrist is prevalent.

The New Testament declares that there will not only be an AntiChrist but many Antichrists. In the Book of Revelation, biblical scholars define the “beast” of chapter 13 as symbolism for the End Time’s AntiChrist. They further depict him as the political ruler of Seven Hills (historically defined as Rome) reigning alongside the False Prophet of that same geography.

John wrote in his New Testament letter that in his day the spirit of AntiChrist was at work to dupe souls. He wrote that many such spirits were at work. Therefore, biblical researchers conclude that at both the start and close of the Church Age such phenomena will appear.

Now in Italy these demonic agents are enveloping the culture so as to alarm both Catholic and evangelical leaders.

“’Our bishops need to know how to confront the devil,’ says theology professor Pedro Barrajón. ‘They need to know how an exorcism is conducted and how to help set people free from the influence of the devil.’

“Italians got a taste of the devil's influence a couple of years ago when two teenagers were stabbed, bludgeoned, and buried alive here in the woods northwest Milan.

“Members of a heavy metal band named the Beasts of Satan were convicted in the double murder.. One of the victims was allegedly killed because she resembled the Virgin Mary.

“’Despite the fact that the presence of the satanic world is fairly widespread we only knew of rituals where animals were slaughtered,’ said Enzo Molinaro, a detective with the Italian police. ‘As to rituals involving human sacrifice this was the first case.’

“Since then, Italian authorities have been grappling with a string of murders linked to devil worship.”

Along with magicians, fortunetellers have become increasingly popular. Instead of seeking divine guidance by way of prayer to Christ and researching the Bible, Italians are turning in droves to those with the crystal ball. This is all in keeping with the spirits of AntiChrist set loose when demons are welcomed into a society.

One Dimitri is reported to head the Children of Satan, the latter numbering over a thousand members. Dimitri espouses moral relativism, that is, situation ethics by which each individual decides what is moral and what is immoral. There are no absolutes.

Dimitri was accused of raping a 2-year-old male and an adolescent female in demonic rituals. He served jail time.

Dimitri faults Christians for thwarting individual expression. He espouses personal freedom to write one’s own religion rather than confess the Scripture as holy writ.

“’Leave people in peace!’” he declares.

At the same time, he offers peace in setting the soul at liberty to choose its own moral scale rather than being inhibited by allegiance to scriptural boundaries.

Dimitri holds that the human, not deity, is “the center of the universe.” Dimitri teaches a religion of humanism absent of reliance upon a divine presence, including especially the God of the Bible.

Christians regard Dimitri as simply another definition of satanic activity.
